Sculptor Glenna Goodacre designed the image of Sacagawea, the Shoshone Native American interpreter for explorers Lewis and Clark, that appeared on the one-dollar coin. For this work, Glenna’s commission was paid with 5,000 pieces of the coin! Ever the enterpreneur, Glenna packaged them and sold each piece for upwards of $200! |
